The Sinai is generally the safest place in Egypt. Even the Israelis, who are looking for most safetiness, often come here for holidays. Out of personal experience we think that the Sinai is safer than an hours drive along a German motorway ;-).

Generally the following rules apply:

  • avoid large groups of people and political demonstrations
  • don't run around with half a bank in your wallet
  • arrange desert trips with people who know about them beforehand
  • avoid driving at night
