Brigitte and I (also Brigitte) planned a desert-trip. It ought to be with camels! Now this is naturally not so easy as two women need a certain feeling of safety and security. The owners of the Blue Bus assured us, they would prepare everything to arrange a reliable and trustworthy Bedouin accompanying us.
With a jeep we headed for St. Catherine into the desert. Here we were already expected. We wanted to enjoy the desert to a large extend in absolute silence. Our guide proved to be very professional and empathetic. The camels were clean and easy to handle.
It was not my first desert trip but time and again I am overwhelmed when in the midst of the desert. The intense silence, the width, a certain kind of monotony resulting from the swinging and swaying of the camel - this is pure meditation. At night, when dusk began to fall and "our" Bedouin opened the desert-kitchen, we had to do nothing but enjoy the crackle of the fire while observing the closing in of the twilight and the unfolding of the sheer endless starry firmament; in those moments a wonderful feeling of gratitude arose, a gratitude for enjoying this trip.
Four days passed by fast and the Blue Bus Camp was awaiting us back. In this quitly and peacefully situated camp we were now able to digest the impressions of the desert while relaxing on the beach. I can only warmly recommend both the Blue Bus camp and the desert-trip.
