You can only find the Nawarmis in the south/east of the Sinai desert in Egypt. They are prehistoric and mysterious structures, 2-2.5 m high and 3-6 m wide, made out of sand stone layers, round and slightly convex with a small opening facing west. Archaeologists found muscle-wristbands, coloured pearly, flint stones, tiny cans and tools made from copper and bones during excavations.
These things were mainly burial objects. They have been dated to the Copperera (4000-3150 BC). It is presumed that these are antique graves, but who was buried there remains a puzzle. The easiest to reach Nawamis are located south of Ein Khudra, not far from the road from Nuweiba to St. Catherines. You have the opportunity to view some of the oldest man made structures in the world. |
