Nuweiba is a Holiday destination in the Gulf of Aqaba, approx. 170 km north of Sharm El Sheikh, 70 km north of Dahab and 65 km south of Taba, so more or less in the northern part of the Aqaba coast line of the Sinai. Nuweiba is made up of 4 parts, muzena, the port, the city centre and the most northern part, Tarabeen.

Nuweiba, Sinai, EgyptThe Nuweiba that you experience today was originally founded by the Israelis. This is a clearly visible fact when travelling in Medina, an administrative and commercial center in the style of an israelian village center, the Moshav.

In the late 70's, the beaches were run over by Israeli and Western backpackers, Nuweiba was one big party on the beach, where most decided to stay the night. Today Nuweiba is a Hotel destination, which attracts rich Egyptians and charter tourists. One could call it a less pricy version of Na'ama Bay in Sharm El Sheikh. In Nuweiba Tarabeen there is still a large number of camps, in which the old party comes back to life every now and then.Nuweiba, Sinai: Downtown, Restaurants and Shops

For others however, Nuweiba is a quick pause in the journey to the the Middle eastern peninsula. There are daily trips by ferry from Aqaba-Jordan to Nuweiba (vice versa). Pilgrims and transport cars use this option to avoid Israelian territory.

As in Dahab,Nuweiba has neighbouring Bedouin villages, which attract young, low-budget holiday makers. Tarabeen, similar to Asilah in Dahab, is catching up quickly; more than 20 camps, and a few hotels-mix with restaurants and bazaars along the beach. Nuweiba, Sinai: Harbour and Ferry to Aqaba, JordanA few also offer beer, but only in "see no evil, hear no evil" conditions.

A little bit south of the "Nuweiba Village Resort" you can have the opportunity to let the old days of the Sinai live again. Undisturbed by light and loud music, one can gaze upon the spectacularily starry sky or/and listen to the sea. Like in Dahab this area is often visited by Israeli tourists in times of peace. Tarabeen is also a popular area to arrange camel or Jeep safaris.

Nuweiba, Sinai: Green Oasis in the center of Nuweiba Busses to and from Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Taba and even Cairo leave at the port. Taxis cost approx. 10 LE for the journey between Tarabeen and Nuweiba city, 20-30 LE for the journey to the port. By foot it takes approx. 30 mins to travel from Tarabeen to Nuweiba Village along the beach, it takes longer if using the road. Travelling to Nuweiba usually takes place via the Sharm El Sheikh or Taba airport, onward travelling by shuttle bus or taxis to the new hotels between Taba and Nuweiba, or the Nuweiba Coral Hilton or Nuweiba Village Resort.
