Sinai Bedouins offer a large variety of different Camel and/or Jeep Safaris to all attractions of the Sinai. The time needed for each Safari depends on the form of transport; generally you can estimate that the camel trips will take 3 times as long as the jeep trips.
Wadi Watir Most Bedouin guides charge between 90 and 150 LE per day, here again the camel trips will generally be more expensive than the Jeep trips. The costs include meals and fees, usually they do not include water! On the Sinai this becomes more expensive the further you are from the shops, so we advise you to take plenty along with you.
The nearest of Sinais destinations, all are one day trips, are the Palm Oasis "Ain El-Furtage" and the colourful sandstone canyon, "Wadi Huweiyit", both can be reached with jeeps. Slightly further north lies "Moyat El-Wishwashi", a canyon which collects rainwater, covered by intruiging stone blocks. Probably the best known trip starting from Nuweiba is the Coloured Canyon, which can be reached over a walk path from Ain El-Furtaga. The name comes from the spectacular lines of colour along the very steep walls of the canyon, sheltered from the wind and ghostly silent. After arrival by jeep, you can walk through the canyon in both directions Bedouin Cemetery
Other destinations are:
- Wadi Ghazala, Dunes, trees and sightings of Gazelle,
- The Oasis Ain Umm Ahmed, Deep water ways, caused by snow and rain fall on the highest mountains in the Sinai,
- The Oasis Ain Khudra, presumed to be the biblical Hazeroth, where Miriam became ill with leprosy after criticizing Moses.
Guides can be found all over Nuweiba. Most Nuweiba hotels and camps can also arrange trips into the desert for you. |
